What is an API?

API stands for Application Programming Interface. It is a set of rules and protocols that allow software applications to communicate with each other. Think of it as a bridge that connects different systems, enabling them to exchange data or perform actions.

Key Components of an API:

  1. Endpoints: Specific URLs where an API interacts with your application.
  2. Methods: Actions you can perform on the API (e.g., GET, POST, PUT, DELETE).
  3. Request: The data or instructions you send to the API.
  4. Response: The data the API sends back to you.
